  • PARIS, FRANCE-- Youth activists at the Climate Generation Space protested the COP21 corporate sponsor Engie, the energy company in France, which profits from the coal and fracking industry. Activists held up signs that read "Engie, we see through your greenwashing" and "Kick big polluters out."<br />

Next door to the COP21 is the Climate Generation Space (Les espaces Générations Climat), which is a space that is open to the public as well as those attending COP21. Les espaces Générations Climat is where many NGO organizations are holding panel discussions and debates on solutions to climate change. <br />
<br />
On December 7, 2015, the COP21 entered its second week of negotiations at the United Nations Climate Change conference. The COP21 is being held in Paris, France, at the Le Bourget conference center.<br />

This #ClimateWelcome was the second day of a four day series of events targeting the new Canadian Prime Minister. Today youth, parents, grandparents and leaders from the climate justice brought 'gifts'. When the Prime Minister did not come and accept the gifts the participants risked arrest by sitting in on the street. #ClimateWelcome sit ins will resume again tomorrow with twice as many participants and more gifts.   • PARIS, FRANCE-- Youth activists from the Indigenous Peoples' Caucus chanting "How low can you go?" at an action this morning at COP21. The activists were holding a rope representing the 1.5 degrees Celsius limit of global temperature rise that is necessary to stay below to prevent climate change disasters. The youth activists along with Chief Bill Erasmus were asking delegates to commit to staying below 1.5 degrees in the climate negotiations and invited them to show their commitment by doing the limbo underneath the rope at the action. <br />

The activists were holding a rope representing the 1.5 degrees Celsius limit of global temperature rise that is necessary to stay below to prevent climate change disasters. The youth activists along with Chief Bill Erasmus were asking delegates to commit to staying below 1.5 degrees in the climate negotiations and invited them to show their commitment by doing the limbo underneath the rope at the action. <br />

  • PARIS, FRANCE-- Hundreds of people gathered for a sit-in at COP21 to demand that climate negotiators agree to a strong deal for the climate. The civil society members aimed to put pressure on Parties to not give up on an fair and ambitious agreement that was promised by Heads of State at the beginning of COP21. Activists held signs that read "Don't compromise our future," "1.5 degrees Celsius, Rich Countries do your Fair Share," "System Change Not Climate Change." At the end of the sit-in, a march was led to the mock Eiffel Tower at the conference center and the protest signs were attached to the tower. <br />

They are calling on their government for an "immediate ban on further exploration for oil, gas and coal reserves in New Zealand and a just, urgent transition out of the fossil fuel industry in New Zealand."<br />
