  • On November 6th,  over 60 people continued the sit-ins at the Prime Minister's Residence in Ottawa. This #ClimateWelcome was the second day of a four day series of events targeting the new Canadian Prime Minister. Today youth, parents, grandparents and leaders from the climate justice brought 'gifts'. When the Prime Minister did not come and accept the gifts the participants risked arrest by sitting in on the street. #ClimateWelcome sit ins will resume again tomorrow with twice as many participants and more gifts. Today, youth, parents, grandparents and leaders from the climate justice movement brought the Prime Minister “gifts”: scientific studies, Indigenous treaties, and economic reports all confirming that tar sands needs to stay in the ground. In the end, these gifts were received by the assistant to the Prime Minister -- but the #ClimateWelcome sit ins will resume again tomorrow with twice as many participants and more gifts.
