A pregnant Comfort Harja, director, Uganda Women’s Water Initiative talks to her son King Okori Rehan. Comfort Harja recognized the needs of the community in Gomba since she worked there as a nurse. With UWWI, she sought out a grant to help fund the training of the women on the construction of BioSand filters that would provide safe water and reduce risks of waterborne diseases. Brick tanks helped to provide access to water as the children were walking too far to fetch water. They also trained on soap making to encourage hand-washing and improve hygiene and sanitation.
